Building your Own home Australia

Build Custom Home / July 30, 2018

We would love you to join us to help build Australia's first legally permitted SuperAdobe Earthbag Round House, which is a type of natural building. It is in a town called Willow Grove, VIC, Australia.

We hope to have a total of 8-15 Workaway volunteers at all times throughout first half of the year, from March 1st 2017 until May 15th 2017, with Workaway staying for as long a period as they can manage (2 weeks or more would be great, but we're open to shorter periods also).

Volunteers won't have a chance to work with the horses, as they're not ours. But, we have 18 beautiful horses on the property.

We are looking for excited, enthusiastic people to join our volunteer program to help run this milestone build in Australia.

The work will be very physical, so we would love dedicated, hard workers who don't mind a bit of shovelling, wheel-barrowing, lifting, and tamping. All of this is done in a very supportive, loving environment, where we all look after each other and our bodies.

3 local organic meals are served everyday (cooked by myself and our Workaway team) So it's also great if you don't mind having a cook in the kitchen every now and then. You don't have to be amazing, just enthusiastic!

The build will be run by the owners, and 1 main builder, so you will be clearly instructed on exactly what to do, so don't worry if you've never built anything before, we are completely open to all people from all walks of life, and everyone has something to offer. That being said, we would LOVE to have builders, carpenters, crafters, painters, artists, weavers, what-evers onboard, to be able to offer their particular skills to the project.

We will be working 5 days a week, with 2 rest days, split between poor weather days.

We supply delish meals, showers (sometimes cold, sometimes hot!), we are trying to supply tents and a bed, but it's getting more difficult, so if you can supply your own tent and sleeping gear that's wonderful, toilets, dam swimming, natural building knowledge and teaching, a unique experience, rewarding physical work, healthy community living, lots of great people, and heaps of fun! Unfortunately no internet aside from your own mobile reception.

We will organise transport to and from the farm, from either the closest train station (trafalgar), or we are happy to help from Melbourne if we can, just get in touch.

If you're full of beans, very keen to meet amazing new people, see a breathtaking part of Victoria and build something incredibly interesting and rewarding, please get in touch!
