AVG cost of Building a House
Hello Nevada Lady,
This question is sort of like asking "How high is the sky?" the answer is relative to a lot of factors, and needs answers to a few questions before an intelligent response can be given.
So, perhaps you can answer a few more questions which will eliminate some of the variables. Are you looking to buy a lot, or already own a lot, and want to build on it yourself? Are you looking to buy a home from a home builder on one of their lots? Are you merely trying to determine if it is cheaper to build than to buy a resale? If you do intend to build, how big is the house? How many stories? Do you want a Custom built Home with newly drawn plans (that can cost you $5 to $15 per square foot right there), or a tract style home? What kind of amenities do you intend to put into it? For example, a bath tub might cost $200 installed, but have the plumber put in a jetted tub, and you could easily go over $2500. That one decision could add $1 per square foot to a 2000 square foot house. A kitchen can cost from $5, 000 to $50, 000+, depending on the cabinets and the appliances. That decision could swing the costs an additional $20+ per square foot.
The long and short of it is this. If you are doing the construction yourself, it could cost as little as $40 per square foot, if you put in the cheapest of all components. Or it could be Several $100s per square foot, if you have a fondness for Gold faucets and commercial grade appliances.
